Location: Wal-Mart in Dallas
Victims: G and I
G and I had to go to WM to pick up corner guards for our night stand as we were very scared that she might hurt herself but running into it. When we got to WM, we did the walk around the foodie aisles even though we did not need anything just for the sake of habit...On our way around the place I noticed this cute baby being carted around by a desi daddy...and I could not stop myself from showing G the baby who also agreed that he was cute...and then we proceeded towards the milk section...ya...bought nothing there and finally landed at the baby section...
We were looking at the different options we had when we saw the daddy with the baby still in the cart stare at G's tee...he was wearing a First Trade tee...G turned around and asked him if he needed anything to which daddy said...no just trying to read what is on your tee...G politely replied..."a whole lot of crap." We turned around and started checking out what we were looking for...
Instantly the wife jumped towards me and asked me if I could help her also find baby proofing stuff for her house. I saw the baby and then asked her how old her son was...she said 4 months...I told her...well you don't need to baby proof for another two months at least...to which she said "he is crawling all over." (I am not inexperienced...I have a baby too...) I smiled and picked up what I wanted when she grabbed what I had in my hand in the name of checking it out...I told her that it was the last corner guard and I wanted it. And all along the daddy dear was chatting with G about where he was working, what he was working on, where G was from, etc etc....
G looked at me...and said...I think we need more than one box of the corner guard...since WM does not have it, we have to go to Babies r us...they are going to shut down...so lets run...I said, oh ya...you are right...
We quickly bid adieu...but the man (daddy) would not stop...he asked G if he could give him his number so that they can get baby advice from us...to which G turned and looked at him and said...
"I don't have a phone with me...I don't own one..."
We left...
I could not stop laughing...we have been there before...not like I have not blogged about it...Sorry Amway/Quickstar/whatever you have to try harder...the economy might be down but that does not mean that we have kept our brains in a safe...we still carry it around...
And what is worse...it is always the DESI's who come and approach you...as it is we desi's don't smile at fellow desi's...if anything we give a snarl or sometimes a "I know where you are from" look...now these guys are just spoiling it for the rest...The minute G and I see any friendly smiling Desi...our Amway/Quickstar alarm goes off and we are on high alert...we ignore them and try doing rude stuff so they don't approach us...rude as in our expressions become unfriendly...
Gosh! They are so annoying...and this couple used their baby to sell Amway/Quickstar to us...how low can they stoop...AAAAAAAArrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

God knows why they use WM/Target/LNT as their marketing offices.....These folks are getting super crazy and sure enuff annoying! Poor u both - Better luck next time at these stores.....
Gosh!!! i know...you guys must also be experiencing it more in CA na?
We as in "I" have gotten better for the last few yrs now.....The first few times as a disaster! I totally fell for their sweet talk and passed on my number and the very next day all I got call for biz oppourtinities:( So.Cal is much better - Bay area is an Amway nightmare!!!!!
hahaha. that's really funny, only once G and I have had this experience and I think we just gave them a wrong number and went off :D
i find it more funny than annoying i think :)
Prasanthi
True...even Girish and I have faced the problem quite a bit of times...and now we have learnt...every time Girish gave his number afterwards...he would put those guys number under a do-not-answer name...
Megha...
Guess we are more approachable eh??? just kidding!
Yeah I have had these experiences too. Not Amway but for some business "opportunity". The lady smiles at me when I was in target and asks me if she knows me and then rattles a bunch of stuff. Then she says hey let's exchange numbers and we can hang out. The gullible me gave her the number. And the next day she calls and sayd "how would you like a little extra income"!! I said sorry and never take her calls now. So annoying. My husband did warn me about this!
Shilpa,
So totally true...the minute they know that you have fallen for their trap they are all over you for you contact...
I really wonder if they think that we would believe in any random strangers good intention for us...Too bad that they were so gullible...but the rest of us still have some sense in us!!!
I guess you haven't seen the McDonald Play land approach to Amway Recruitment. Aren't these people rude? I like that part about the alarm going off.
These are cult taught tactics. I can understand how it is the male that usually puts the hard sell on whom they believe to be marks.
You are honorary dudes. For more information click here.
Hi Quixstar...
Thanks for visiting...
ya they are very annoying...grrrrrrrrrr...
How do you know these people were from Amway, or do you use Amway as a generalized MLM association?
Click on my name for the tool scam facts.
TEX
If you read my blog fully you can notice in the last few lines where I have clearly written
"...Sorry Amway/Quickstar/whatever..."
So the answer is...I DON't KNOW and I dont care...all I know is that these people annoy me!
Wonderful dear ladies; beware of this fellow named Tex. He is a Amway Global Cult Apologist. If he can't dazzle you with brilliance he will try to baffle yo with bullshit. He is full of that you can believe me.
Ladies, Tex is one of these anoying people you are talking about. He is one of them dar cult member the business cult Amway group of con man scoundrels.
I am so happy that I found this blog. I found it before Tex. Actually he arrived here because I left a link on my blog. He is so predictable. He is like the rat that hits the food bar to receive a pellet of food. So predictable!
You have good reason to be wary. Tex aspires to be a tool kingpin seller of tools of deceit. You know, all the crap tapes, and function these duped people buy up like they were Moma's hotcakes.
Tex, has been trying to deny the very existence of the Amway Cult. My god Tex are you insane in the membrane? Amway ranks right up at the head of the list of the three greates Cults in the entire world, and you have the nerve to deny that Amway is a cult. You ignoramous idiot. If I say they are a cult, you can just say cult like a good tex's tool house pee wee herman scammer. Is that good enough for you asshole?
Parden my language dear ladies, some time a puke has to be set straight no matter what company is present. Your normal "dude" chat can go on. Sorry for Tex's impudent disturbance. Cast him out of your comments if he shows his arse again, okay? LMAO
LOL, Amway and their devious ways. The only good part about 'em is that you get to amuse others with your horror stories and feel like a war veteran.
Quix...thanks for the warning...we will be aware of them :)
Shank...seems like that to me too :)
judging from the # of comments.. this post seems to b the most popular one for obvious reasons... :)
there is a large community out there who are sick and tired of being hunted by the quixstar enthusiasts!
Remember the first time we visited you guys it was with these losers?? and they made us listen to their tapes for a verrry long time on the drive!
Its sad to see that they are still soo rampant.
Hey P...ya I agree...I guess most desi's relate with this because they have been a victim in the past...
Well guess what...last night again at WM we had another encounter...i guess our WM is haunted with the AMWAY's and Quickstar's...
Amway/Quixtar Desis have a condescending & patronizing approach when marketing the Amway/Quixtar BS to other Desis. I had an experience in College where the Amway/Quixtar Desi (named Balaji & well known amongst all Desis on campus for his Amway/Quixtar marketing) ran into me (or I ran into him depending on how you look at it) at a Coffee Shop with his Amway/Quixtar Boss & started talking about me with comments like, "This Guy travels a lot," "I told you this Guy would be good," & "what did I tell you about this Guy!" The whole time I was standing right next to them. WOW, all the money they waste on their motivational tapes & seminars they attended must not have taught them if your trying to sell your idea to someone, don't talk about them in a condescending manner when they're standing right next to you! Regardless, long story short, I told these clowns that I have a life, a girlfriend & my free time is spent going to the beach, concerts, movies, shows or spending quality time with my then girlfriend. They say I have a life & were disappointed. Balaji did call me a few weeks later (I made the mistake of giving him my cell #) & asked me to come over for lunch. I said, I have plans this afternoon already. He calls back & says he has vitamins & soap he wants me to check out & he thought they were BS but they're good products. I told him, I shop at the grocery store for what I need, not at someone's apartment! Hard to believe, he's was an Engineering Student. I think the issue is, many Desis raised in India are force-fed that life is all about getting good grades & getting into a good college to study IT, Engineering or become a Doctor. The 101 other things in life that are also important like learning table manners, grooming to the 2015 style vice looking like someone from 1972, dressing to the 2015 style vice being dressed like it's 1965, etiquette, social graces, proper hygiene that involve wearing deodorant & aftershave & more importantly getting a life outside of their jobs is not a priority in their lives! Lastly, the Amway/Quixtar models don't prove you will make a profit yet these prospective Desi MBA students, Engineers, Doctors & IT Professionals that can do physics & calculus in their sleep can't do the simple math on this Amway/Quixtar BS. They instead spend their free time at Shopping Malls & Large Retail Stores trying to recruit Desis into their BS! Can't help but pity the days they lose of their Youth!
Amway/Quixtar POACHERS (vice recruiters) is the ideal term to refer to these clowns! I prefer to use the term POACHER because that's what Amway/Quixtar folks are. They will not leave you alone once they get your phone number & its a relentless assault with their BS marketing techniques. Amway/Quixtar folks have NO LIFE whatsoever. Their days off involve wandering the Malls & various other retailers making fools of themselves. Maybe the Amway/Quixtar POACHERS need to take a real marketing class at a college to improve their marketing skills instead of waste money on their BS motivational tapes? Oops, I may have inadvertently given them an idea, LoL!
I've always wondered why the Amway/Quixtar POACHERS don't take the time to enjoy life? Do they ever ask themselves, "instead of walking around the Malls or Shopping Centers trying to recruit (& antagonize) people, I can spend my Saturday off at the Beach playing Volleyball or if I'm bored hit up a Gym to let some steam out! Have a REAL SOCIAL LIFE & not a life where your personal life is your business life! Anyone involved in Amway/Quixtar are indirectly stating, "I don't want to get a life & for that matter enjoy what life has to offer!" They money they lose investing in a BS business with no return, is money that could have been spent better spent elsewhere! The Amway/Quixtar POACHERS gradually (or in some cases abruptly) lose their friends & their own family grows distant with them yet with all the writing on the wall, THEY DON'T GET IT! In college I took a method of reverse-patronizing these Quixtar/Amway clowns. They figured it out quick & decided to leave me alone afterwards. Once you show them you are smarter than them in a street-smart sense they back off. All Amway Quixtar POACHERS talk to others in a condescending/patronizing manner but don't realize they just insulted their prospective recruit! I was ambushed at a coffee shop by two Amway/Quixtar POACHERS & one was talking about me in the 3rd person as I was standing right next to him. WOW! I think the money they spend on all those CD's & books didn't teach them, that method of conversing is not a good marketing tool. I told them I have a date with my then girlfriend (which I did) on their conference seminar day & that's more important to me than paying $100 bucks to attend a cheap seminar with a bunch of Amway/Quixtar Zombies listening to "BOZO THE CLOWN," go-off about how to be a Millionaire in Ten days!
Amway/Quixtar POACHERS need a reality check! Don't think twice about giving them an earful! Maybe then, they will get their life on a non-intrusive track!
